By Sijou B.L. Miyoko
The findings from a study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, involving nearly 170,000 Chinese men and women over age 40 showed that about two-thirds of the 20,033 people who died during the research period were killed by heart disease, cancer or stroke. The conclusions were based on medical data collected in 1991 with follow-up evaluations in 1999 and 2000.(
Sep. issue of New England Journal of Medicine.
Peterson Zhou, a senior social research scientist and gerontologist said,
"One of my long time interested subject matters is how people can obtain
longevity and enjoy maximum life quality. Our research are based on
culture, history and modern technologies. A preponderance of evidence show
that people with better education background show longer life span.
However, social pressure, life styles, family obligations, sexual life and
economic status as well as nutritious supplements also have significant impacts
on life span, therefore determine one's projected years to live."

Everybody wishes to live to over 100 years. Scientists and Medical doctors say it is possible for every body to live better and longer as long as everyone adopts a right life style and take care of oneself. Unfortunatly, most people just ignore a simple fact that they can manage thier lives but fail to do so. According to the latest version of "New England Journal of Medicine", As China's economy grows so does the number of citizens with heart disease, cancer and stroke. In fact, those three diseases now represent the top killers of middle-aged people in China, fueled by high blood pressure and smoking, and have replaced infectious disease as China's main cause of death.
