Chinese Americans in the Greater Seattle area formed a " Joint Committee for China Earthquake Relief Assistance"

As part of the relief efforts in quick response to the 7.9 magnitude Earthquake in Wenchuan, Sichuan in China, a dedicated group of American professionals with Chinese ethnic heritage in Seattle area have formed a group, merely for the purpose to provide assistance to the people who are in miserable situation caused by the recent Earthquake in Sichuan China.
The Steering Committee consists of core members from different organizations and groups in the U.S. and in the State of Washington. Rongrong Bian, PTA Vice Chair of Northwest Chinese School, states that Chinese Americans need to united together in the earthquake relief effort. Massive fundraising efforts are being planned and carried out at Northwest Chinese School. Ms. Qi Zhang, an immigrant from Sichuan said, " Sichuan is my native hometown and I still have my relatives there, besides donating through Microsoft Chinese employee association, I will like to do whatever I can to help those victims of the quake."
According to David Chen, the board member of the Overseas Chinese Scholars Association Seattle Chapter, program for the benefits performance in Seattle areas are planned with the quick supports by many artists and local singers. One of the programs with be performing on May 26 evening in Chinatown-International District. More programs for June with be announced soon . The Committee welcomes all local Chinese association and performance groups to join in and work together for the relief efforts.
